David is the founding member of Wilson Patent Law, LLC.  David has 15 years of experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications.  He began his patent career as a patent agent while in law school, working for a Colorado-based start-up company focused on cell phone interference cancellation technology.  He continued his patent career as an attorney at Townsend Townsend & Crew, one of the nation's premier intellectual property firms based in Silicon Valley.  More recently, he has worked at the largest law firm in Colorado, Holland & Hart, where he helped build the electrical engineering practice group from four attorneys to eighteen attorneys.

David has broad experience preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications in electrical and mechanical arts, with extensive experience in European, Asian, Australian, and both North and South American patent prosecution.  He regularly advises clients regarding patent portfolio development.  He performs due diligence with regard to the acquisition and management of patent portfolios and the launching of new products.  He regularly works with clients of varying size in areas including aerospace, outdoor equipment, telecommunications and networking, signal processing and coding, wireless communication, biometrics, microfluidics, medical devices, optics, travel gear, alternative energy (solar thermal and photovoltaic, hydrogen gas production, nuclear fission and fusion), along with physics- and mathematics-based technologies.

With over 15 years of legal experience, Emela specializes in comprehensive development of IP protection strategies that include managing patent portfolios, securing protection of trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights and drafting licensing and non-disclosure agreements. 

Emela has extensive litigation experience in the public sector that includes substantial motions practice and over 200 jury trials. Her public sector experience also includes regulatory, legislative, and administrative practice.

Emela is passionate about innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship and enjoys providing high-quality, cost-effective, and tailored legal solutions that meet the unique needs and goals of each client.
